No vice, no predatory finance, no miracle cures, no political ads, no hate speech, nothing illegal. You bring substantiable claims, lawful data, and good-faith conduct. We bring the rest.
Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes what Highstone Media, LLC will and will not run advertising for, and what it expects from clients in return. It supplements our Terms of Service. A violation may result in suspension or termination of the engagement, with or without notice, depending on severity. This list is not exhaustive — when in doubt, ask us.
Industries and products we will not run advertising for
We will not knowingly run paid media — on any channel — for the following categories. This is independent of whether the advertising platform itself would allow it.
- Adult content, pornography, escort services, or any business model built on sexual services.
- Tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping products, or smoking-cessation products targeting minors.
- Recreational drugs, drug paraphernalia, or unregulated CBD/cannabis products sold across state or national lines.
- Firearms, ammunition, weapon accessories, or related training, in jurisdictions where their advertising is restricted.
- Predatory financial products — payday loans, instant-cash advances, structured-settlement buyers, lead-gen for high-interest debt.
- Get-rich-quick schemes, MLM/network marketing recruitment funnels, and crypto products marketed as guaranteed returns.
- Health products making disease-treatment, miracle-cure, or weight-loss-guarantee claims that are not supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence.
- Politically-motivated advertising, campaign advertising, or issue-advocacy advertising.
- Hate-group merchandise or messaging targeting a protected class (race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin).
- Anything illegal in the jurisdiction where the customer is or where the campaign serves.
Prohibited client conduct
You agree not to:
- Make us run ad content that is false, misleading, deceptive, or that you cannot substantiate on request.
- Instruct us to make claims regulated by an authority you are not authorised to act under (e.g. drug efficacy, supplement-disease, financial-yield claims).
- Provide us with customer lists you do not have explicit consent to upload as a custom audience under applicable law (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, CAN-SPAM, ePrivacy, etc.).
- Provide us with content that infringes a third party's intellectual-property rights, including unlicensed music, celebrity likenesses, or trademarked logos.
- Use Highstone as a conduit for impersonation, hateful conduct, harassment of identified individuals, or doxxing.
- Use Highstone to evade an ad-platform suspension or sanction imposed against you or a related entity.
- Use Highstone to reach minors in jurisdictions where advertising to them is restricted, or to advertise age-restricted products to audiences not screened for age.
- Engage in click fraud, ad-stacking, hidden ads, cloaking, or behaviour that violates an ad-platform's terms.
- Knowingly include malware, spyware, scareware, or phishing links in any landing page, asset, or creative we publish for you.
- Send commercial email or SMS on top of our paid-media work that violates CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GDPR direct-marketing rules, or equivalent.
- Harass our team, including making demands that are abusive, threatening, or that pressure us to publish content we have flagged as a policy concern.
- Engage in any activity that imposes an unreasonable burden on our systems, our processors, or the advertising platforms.
Compliance with platform policies
Every channel we operate in has its own advertising policies (Meta Advertising Standards, Google Ads Policies, TikTok Advertising Policies, YouTube Advertising Policies, Reddit Ads Policy, etc.). By engaging us, you agree that:
- You have read or will read the policies of each platform where you want us to advertise.
- You are responsible for ensuring your product, claims, and landing-page experience comply with those policies.
- We may decline or pause a creative concept that, in our reasonable judgment, is likely to result in a platform-level penalty (ad disapproval, account restriction, business-manager suspension).
- If a platform suspends your account because of content you instructed us to publish, that is not a Highstone service failure and is not refundable.
Data and audience handling
When you provide us with customer lists, attribution data, or other personal data for use in paid media:
- You warrant that you have the lawful basis to share that data with us and onward with each advertising platform.
- You warrant that you have provided required notices (privacy policy, marketing-consent record) and obtained any consent required by GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA/CPRA, or other applicable law.
- You agree to our Data Processing Addendum, which governs our handling of that data on your behalf.
Enforcement
If we believe in good faith that you have violated this AUP, we may (depending on severity and history):
- Ask you to remove or modify the offending content or instruction and confirm in writing.
- Pause campaigns or work on your account while we discuss it.
- Decline to run a specific creative concept or campaign.
- Terminate the engagement immediately under the Termination for Cause provision in our Terms of Service.
- Report unlawful activity to the relevant advertising platform or authorities where required by law.
We aim to act proportionately and to explain our reasoning. Honest mistakes get a conversation; deliberate violations may not.
Reporting a violation
If you believe an advertisement we have run violates law or platform policy, please email legal@highstonemedia.com with the URL or ad ID, a short description of the concern, and your contact information. We acknowledge reports within 2 business days and update the reporter once we have completed our review.
Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes (anything that adds a new prohibited category or new client obligation) are posted at least 30 days before they take effect and notified to active clients by email. The effective date is shown at the top of this page.
